Cleaning your Motor Casings and other hardware
back to How To contents page
Several people ask how to clean motor casings, closures, and other hardware after a day of flying.  My answer to this question has two parts - part 1 is to clean the hardware as soon as possible.  Part 2 is to use a natural cleaning solution known as Vinegar.  Just go out and buy a Gallon of white Vinegar and put it in a tall tube that will fit your motor casing/casings.  Then drop the casings in and let them soak for a little while (say 30-40 minutes). If done within 24 hours of a launch, the residue should then be easy to get off the casing.  For the closures, quick links, and other items, just drop them into a shallow container filled with vinegar for 30 minutes or so.  Again, they will clean up in a breeze.
